Sunday Programs in Greater Vancouver
WSCC Canada Chinese Program for Greater Vancouver is open on Sundays or Saturday , except holidays per the Vancouver Public School calendar. The Program currently offers the following courses through school year from Sept to June next year.
Chinese Language Courses
- Chinese Courses: These courses are for students who understand basic Mandarin Chinese. Instructors use simplified characters and the Pinyin phonetic system. At higher grades, traditional characters are introduced. WSCC has chosen Dr. Liping Ma’s Chinese Language Curriculum for its educational material. The curriculum has proven to be an effective teaching system for oversea Chinese students learning Mandarin Chinese as a heritage language. - Bilingual Courses: Students is these courses are assumed to have very limited or no Chinese language proficiency. Learning material is organized and edited by the instructor. Initially, instructions are given in both Mandarin Chinese and English; however, the use of Mandarin Chinese instructions are gradually increased as students become more proficient. As most students are from non-Chinese-speaking families, parents of young children are welcome to learn with their children together in Mommy &Me classes.
